Suzanne T. Garcia is deeply committed to social justice and equity, and has a keen understanding of the challenges facing marginalized communities. She has worked tirelessly to build partnerships and collaborations that address these challenges, and has been recognized for her expertise and leadership in this area. In 1982 Suzanne T. Garcia partnered with Sister Alice Louise Potts a Sister from St. Mary's of the Woods, Sisters of Devine Providence. Together they began to provide cloths to those in need, "It became obvious that we needed a facility to work out of. Together we opened a modest Thrift Store and Social Service Agency. As donations arrived it enabled us to add food and additional social services." Mrs. Garcia has been a Champion in the community coordinating a network of partners committed to service and using all resources available to better the lives of others.
Rosie Martinez-Tamez is a skilled communicator and collaborator, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organization. She is adept at managing complex projects and has a talent for keeping teams motivated and focused on achieving their goals. A Baby Boomer, Texas Realtor and LVN, Rosie has volunteered her many talents to help achieve the East End Social Services, Inc. mission.
Joe Garza Jr. born in 1952 graduated from Pasadena District High School in 1971. He has resided in Houston since 1963. Joe joined the family Tax Preparation and Automobile Title Service business in 1985 where he continued to serve the East End Community. He began his volunteer service helping to raise money for East End Social Services from a vendor's booth at the various City of Houston annual festivals in the 1990's. The funds were used to have an annual East End Community Christmas party and, to donate food and gifts. He has supportive from the early days of East End Social Services, Inc. a non profit corporation that has become a recipient of several grants and a member of the Houston Food Bank. Chairman Garza is proud to lead East End Social Services, Inc. in the continued service of the community.
Born in nineteen fifty, and raised in Houston's East End Magnolia Park. Vice Chair Lopez was educated in Houston Independent School District. He graduated from Milby High School in nineteen sixty nine. He is also a University of Houston Alumni who earned his Degree in Studio Art in nineteen seventy five. Vice Chair Lopez worked in Woodworking as a Draftsman before moving into Management in Nineteen Eighty Two. He started working at the Houston's Museum of Fine Arts in nineteen ninety and proudly retired from there in Two Thousand Twenty.
Lucy T. Garivey, Treasurer of the East End Social Services, INC., is a Houston native. Lucy has more than 20 years of experience working for an oil and gas service company. A loving mother to her family and friends. Lucy’s ability to balance family and her strong work ethic is evident in her supportive role working with the East End Social Services. She is currently attending San Jacinto College. This experience has given her a deep appreciation for how nonprofits seek to improve, and help lives one day at a time.
